CHLOE RODGERS THE ALGEA

Nottingham’s Chloe Rodgers has started to make a name for herself this year, working with Twenty Committee and releasing a series of impressive solo tunes, including her current single, ‘The Algea’. The minimalistic-yet-grand ‘Eleanor Rigby’ style string accompaniment gives the track a unique edge that sets it apart from the barrages of alt-pop we’re hit with these days, while still maintaining clear influence from the likes of Thom Yorke and Billie Eilish. Rodgers explains that her latest track is “named after a group of Greek goddesses that are basically just mega depressed. I was definitely being over dramatic giving it that name. It was just about being a naive teenager looking for love but getting used by older dudes that knew exactly what they were doing.” Expect big things in 2021. -Dan Peeke
